What should be in your bag…?
The 2018 Beach Volleyball Major Series season is going to continue and we can’t wait for the next stop on the tour. It’s about time to start packing our bags. I don’t know about you guys, but I always end up on holiday, angry at myself for forgetting to pack something or other. There’s often too many things to keep track of (passports, baggage weight, toothbrush) that we sometimes forget the things that we really wanted to bring along. So we took it upon ourselves to do a community service and create a checklist of your Beach Survival Kit. Here are nine items that really should be in your bag to Gstaad, Vienna and Hamburg.
1. Your sunglasses
Omg how annoying would it be to travel all the way to Fort Lauderdale without sunnies? Do yourself a favor and pack those in now – two pairs even – different pairs for different outfits. Look amazing and protect those eyes from UV rays. Win-win.
2. Your hat
Sunglasses and hats go hand in hand. Protect your eyes and protect your face. Sunburn is a real thing and something we don’t take lightly. Besides, hats are basically the perfect beach accessory. Whether it’s a classic straw hat, fedora, basketball cap or the more adventurous Nacho Libre full face wrestling mask – you do you man.
3. Extra beach stuff to get signed
Its autograph time and you’ve forgotten your beach volley paraphernalia – not good. How are you going to get autographs with nothing to autograph? That team USA tank top, your favorite beach volleyball, your nephew’s Nick Lucena jersey. The best of the best beach volleyball players will be gathered in one place, so you’d better not miss your chance to get your stuff signed. Pack it in.
4. Your Fan Regalia
Okay so you support Brazil, how are people going to know in your plain t-shirt and shorts huh? No you have to go all out, pack everything according to your favorite teams colors whether it be red, blue and white or bright orange. Make sure people know who you’re backing. Pack face paint if necessary. No one should confuse you for a normal just general fan.
5. Country flag
Sometimes the team that you support doesn’t correlate to the country you support, in that case, always pack a backup flag. Advantages are: looks amazing from the Center Court. It can also act as shade when it gets too sunny. Wave it in the air for a gentle breeze. Fold it into a neat little triangle and pack it in.
6. Handmade signs or posters
If you wanted to send a message out for your favorite beach volleyball players to see – or even if you just wanted to write ‘Go Team’ – now’s your chance. You have just over a week to create the perfect handmade sign or poster to pack and take along with you. You no longer have to feel jealous and sad because you don’t have a board to hold up, you have some time to create the perfect board! Or cut out of your favorite teams faces. The key is more is more. It just enhances the experience.
7. Lozenges
Trust me, after all that screaming and rooting for your favorite team – you are not going to regret having a little bit of forethought and remembering to pack in your lozenges of choice. Can’t risk losing your voice when your team is in the final and as much as I think that gruff half lost voice sounds badass – the pain it comes with is not worth it. Having a lozenge on hand never hurt nobody.
8. Party clothes!
The intention is to go and watch beach volleyball but don’t forget about the after party. Beach Party Nights is what’s up. The worst thing that could happen is wanting to go out but not having anything to wear. Throw a few skimpy out-out clothes into your luggage and you’re good to go. 9. Your power bank
Last, but certainly not least – your trusty power bank. All those selfies, stories, videos and apps to check what awesome song is playing in the stadium chow battery. You don’t want to be in the middle of filming the winning point and dun dun dun… battery empty. To avoid a catastrophe of such magnitudes, always remember prevention is better than cure. So pack your fully charged power bank.
And there you have it – your complete list of things to pack to ensure maximum fun during your visit to the #GstaadMajor, #ViennaMajor and the #HamburgFinals. We’ve thought about these things so you don’t have to. Oh and don’t forget to use our hashtag #BeachMajorSeries in all your social media posts.
