Bundle of joy on the way for Olympic champ next year
Olympic and World Champion golden girls Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst will not be playing together in 2018… because Laura’s expecting a baby!
Laura broke the news on the team’s Facebook page, where the 31-year-old explained that that the golden girls will take a break from the beach next season while Ludwig welcomes her new arrival.
Hallo ihr Lieben, wir hoffen, ihr habt schöne Weihnachtstage erlebt und euch vom vielen Essen schon ein wenig erholt😅 Eine kleine Überraschung gibt's noch nach Weihnachten von uns...also eher von...
“There’s a little surprise from us after Christmas,” says Ludwig. “Morph and I are expecting a baby in June. Of course that means I will not be playing tournaments next year.
“A huge thank you to Kira who supported me from the beginning with my plan of the ‘baby break’.”
The heroes from Vienna in 2017 and the Copacabana in 2016 might not be playing together in 2018 but the German stars have already set their sights on defending their World and Olympic titles.
Ludwig added: “Nothing changes our sporting plans – I am keeping myself fit so that Kira and I can defend our titles in 2019 and 2020.”
Congratulations to Laura and Morph from everyone at the Beach Major Series.
