Delightful Dutch duo reunited!

Meppelink/Van Gestel rekindle their partnership

Huge happy news from Holland! Madelein Meppelink and Sophie van Gestel will be back playing together on the sand next season!

The pair were both on the look-out for new teammates following the end of a hectic 2016 campaign but the Dutch duo have announced that they’ll join forces again – with less than two months until the Fort Lauderdale Major in February.

Next season @sophievangestel1 and I will be dancing the tango together again...Oh and also play beach volleyball together 😜😁 #oldteamreunited #weareback #excited #letskicksomeass #beachvolleyball #team

You have to go back three years to when the pair last did damage with a Mikasa in their hands together. Meppelink, 27, and van Gestel, 25, were first on the sand as a team back in 2011 in Klagenfurt, but the highlight of their partnership was arguably their stunning Corrientes Grand Slam success in Argentina in 2013.

That gold remains the only time either player has stood proudly on top of the podium on the international scene…so the question is now they’re back together, will they be able to replicate that success in 2017 and beyond?

Who knows! But one thing’s for sure it’s going to be fun finding out in Florida in February!

Good luck, girls and see you at the beach!
