It’s Wednesday. Which means one thing. No, it means TWO things: two videos of beach volleyball stars revealing their inner-most secrets to our cameras in our Question of the Week series.

Remember here at the Swatch Major Series we love to get up close and personal with the stars of the sport – and, in our latest videos which hit our glorious YouTube channel this week, we are treated to some amusing insider information from the best in the business.

So, first thing’s first: how often do you get to hear an Olympic and Swatch World Tour finals gold medalist say direct to camera “I’m the strange one!”?

Yet, they are the exact words we get to listen to from a grinning Bruno Oscar Schmidt in our first exclusive video which reveals some of the team’s strange habits.

What precisely is strange about Bruno’s habits is unclear – perhaps that question is worth leaving alone for now. Especially judging by the cheeky grins on both Bruno and his partner Alison Cerutti’s face!

Adrian Carambula says “I’m such a simple guy.” No comment.

Meanwhile fans of Austria’s number one team Doppler/Horst got to find out about the truth of what goes on in their camp during a successful tournament.

“If we win a game we stay in the same shorts, but Clemens keeps the same undershorts it stinks like hell,” said Alex. “We can be the smelliest team!” We dread to think what it was like at the Poreč Major when they went all the way to the final.

From crazy habits to super superstitions…they wouldn’t be athletes without having one.

Madeline Meppelink can only enter the court with her left foot first. “Sometimes I have to do a little shuffle to make sure the left foot goes in first!” she laughs.

Alex Ranghieri says his partner Adrian Carambula “believes in everything” but perhaps the most bizarre superstition comes from Switzerland’s Joana Heidrich...

“If we lose I have to change my hair,” she says. After a silver medal at the A1 Major Klagenfurt and the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto that hasn’t been too often!
