Last Thursday we had the delight of revealing Toronto as the top secret location for the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals – and today we can unveil the full schedule of the tournament!

The first thing you should know is that we’ve given things a little twist this year, adding two teams per gender to the mix so that a total of 24 teams (12 men’s, 12 women’s) will go head-to-head for the biggest prize in beach volleyball.

Naturally, the same rules apply – a maximum of two teams per nation will compete in the Pool Play which runs between 14-16 September. This year, compared to last season’s finale in Fort Lauderdale, there will be four pools of three teams – with the team topping the pool advancing to the quarterfinals.

The all-important medal matches for the women will take place on 17 September before the men take center stage in front of the epic Toronto skyline the next day, 18 September.

With USD 500,000 in the kitty, qualification for the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals remains at the forefront of all the athletes’ minds. The teams only have two more events to rubber-stamp their place on the sand in Toronto: this week at the A1 Major Klagenfurt and in the Long Beach Grand Slam in August.
