Ludwig and Walkenhorst eye four-in-a-row in Poreč

It was a magnificent three in a row for in-form German heroes Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst as they swept all before them to record a glorious Grand Slam win in Olsztyn this weekend.

Their win on home sand at the smart Major Hamburg was their second successive title after they were crowned European Champions in the previous tournament.

In Poland they put Larissa/Talita to the sword in an epic final that saw the Brazilians take the first set 21-18. But Ludwig/Walkenhorst are on a roll right now, and they hit back to win the second set 21-15 before then taking the decider 15-10 to win yet another gold.

And now all eyes will be on the pair as they chase a fantastic fourth gold on the spin at our Poreč Major which kicks off next week.

In the bronze medal match there were smiles on the faces of Slovak team Natalia Dubovcova and Dominika Nestarcova, as the 23rd seeds toppled Brazilians Duda and Elize Maia. The Slovakian pair will hope this medal can give them confidence going into their all-important fight for a place at the Olympics in the Continental Cup.
