Austria’s number one beach volleyball team, Clemens Doppler and Alex Horst, about the news of the upcoming Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series, which has created a pleasant surprise at the greatest beach spots on this planet: “During the past weeks we trained with many international players and of course there was a lot of talk about the Major Series. Everybody is really excited about it.”

“During the past weeks we trained with many international players and of course there was a lot of talk about the Major Series. Everybody is really excited about it.” Clemens Doppler is very optimistic and draws comparisons with his favorite tournament: “The famous beach volleyball tournament in Klagenfurt is the role model. The event has been taking place for many years now. And if they operate and execute it as professionally as they do in Klagenfurt, the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series is going to be a huge success and will do a lot for our sport”, said the athlete. Of course, the Austrian top team wants to shine at the new tour, which motivates the two athletes to be especially well prepared. Four training camps will be held until the new season starts.

Doppler/Horst first response to the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series

Kick-off was in January in Tenerife, where they trained together with German top teams. In February they went to Fuerteventura to train alongside with Polish athletes. And in the beginning of March Clemens Doppler and Alex Horst will take themselves off to Los Angeles, where the US and the Canadian Team will welcome the two Austrians for an intense training session.

This international preparation phase is of high importance to them. “Being compared with the world’s best teams is a great honor for us and being able to train with the best athletes from different countries will boost our performance,” ensures Alex. “We will be exceptionally well prepared.” But the trip to the USA will not be the end of their preparation. The new dads and their offspring might search for their Easter eggs in the sand this year, as they will return to Tenerife for the fine-tuning of their preparation.

“The road towards a sensational season is paved,” says Doppler. “Especially in a season with a lot of totally new highlights like the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series,” Alex adds.
