Together they are the hottest of home favorites for gold in Rio this summer – but first Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch through the streets of Vitória.

It was a particularly moving moment for London 2012 silver medalist Ceruti, as he proudly held the torch aloft through his home city on Tuesday, flanked by fans eager to get their photographs.

The Mammoth and his team-mate Schmidt, who won the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Fort Lauderdale last year, wrote on their Facebook page: “The Olympic flame passed through the state today...very emotional to participate in the torch relay, a unique, unforgettable and emotional moment.”

In case you didn’t know the Olympic Games are heading to the Copacabana with the opening ceremony little over three months away now!

But there’s plenty more action between now and then – four Swatch Major Series tournaments to be precise!
