What lengths would your go for you partner?

It goes without saying that teamwork in beach volleyball is absolutely vital. Talk about stating the obvious, huh?!

But where would you be without your partner? That team-mate you share those celebrations with but the one you console after the lows.

There’s a heart-warming tale to each and every partnership in beach volleyball. Just ask Sam Schachter, a man desperate to help his Canadian team-mate Josh Binstock reach Rio before it’s too late!

Whisper it quietly but our silver medal heroes from the Porec Major last year have a combined age of 60 – and Binstock will be 39 when Tokyo 2020 comes around – and time waits for no man!

It’s now or never for Binstock, but luckily for him he has a team-mate who will do everything he can to ensure the pair are flying around the sand on the Copacabana this summer.

“It’s very important that I can help Josh get there, that would mean a lot to me,” Binstock told the FIVB YouTube channel.

“The fact he is nearing the end of his career I think might add some pressure a little bit but I think there are already plenty of pressures to go around.

“Compiling any more pressure on top of that would be unnecessary. We both understand the gravity of the situation and how important qualifying for these Olympics for both of our careers – and for our life is.”

What a guy – wouldn’t you just love to have a partner on the court like that? That’s what we call real teamwork and dedication – and we’re sure the same will be the case when Josh and Sam take to the court in the Fuzhou Open next week. Good luck boys - see you soon!
