Welcome to the first installment of the Major Round Up – an action-packed summary of what’s hip and happening, on and off the Center Court in the world of beach volleyball.
After an exciting tournament and world-class beach volleyball at Camburi Beach – the Vitoria Open ended with FIVB World Champions Alison/Bruno Schmidt and Swatch World Tour Champions Larissa/Talita coming out victorious. Rio Grand Slam winners Losiak/Kantor and Ross/Walsh not making the cut, bowed out early.

This week we also welcomed Marnin. The half fox, half kangaroo (fangaroo) won the hearts of many fans and received a total of 9731 votes in our Mascot Design Contest.

Beach volleyball, the traditional sport of sunshine and waves has evolved to become a sport that can be played anywhere (provided there is a Center Court of course) – so we have all wondered, does it really matter if the sport is played in areas and places not necessarily traditional?
