U.S. Men’s Beach Power Duo Call it Quits

Olympic hopefuls, Phil Dalhausser and Sean Rosenthal officially ended their two-and-a-half year partnership on Monday

One of the most exciting teams to watch on the sand and certainly one of the most athletically gifted teams in the world had suffered inconsistent finishes on the FIVB World tour due to injury over the past two seasons and decided to part ways mid-way through 2015. Dalhausser, born in Switzerland but raised in Florida, has decided to pick up former partner and south Florida native Nick Lucena. The two started their careers back in 2004 together on the domestic tour in Fort Lauderdale and hope to rekindle that partnership and find success on the world tour. Rosenthal has joined forces with Theo Brunner, a 6’7” up-and-comer who has proven his worth as an effective blocker. With the finale of the Swatch Beach Major Series in Fort Lauderdale only two months away, these newly formed U.S. teams have their work cut out for them to regain their world ranking and qualify for both Fort Lauderdale and the Rio Olympics in 2016.
